Joseph I. Kinjerski, age 85 died on Monday February 10, 2014 at the Kewaunee Care Center. He was born in West Kewaunee on March 14, 1928 to the late Isadore and Stella (Knipp) Kinjerski.
He married Mabel Smidel January 12, 1954 at St. Joseph Church in Norman.
He was a lifelong member of St. Hedwig Church, East Krok. Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Robinson American Legion Post 538 and V.F.W. Post 3392 of Kewaunee. He retired from Frank Hamachek Co.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel: eleven children: Gloria (Greg) Habeck, Kewaunee; Bill (special friend, Shirley) Kinjerski, Kewaunee; Dan (Pam) Kinjerski, Wausaukee; Louie (Linda) Kinjerski, Schofield; Jane (Charlie) Rohr, Kewaunee; Gary (Lynn) Kinjerski, Kewaunee; Roger (Dionne) Kinjerski, Kewaunee; Richard (Chris) Kinjerski, Mishicot; Ron (Joanne) Kinjerski, Kewaunee; Wayne (Dawn) Kinjerski, Kewaunee; Dean (Tina) Kinjerski, Kewaunee; thirty-one grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; Two brothers and sisters-in-law: Michael and Julie Kinjerski; Isadore and Beverly Kinjerski both of Kewaunee; one sister: Sr. Joanne, Green Bay; two sisters-in-law: Joyce Kinjerski and Leona Kinjerski; four brothers-in-law: Leonard (Jacqueline) Smidel; Richard Smidel; Carl Smidel; Norbert (Kim) Smidel; a sister-in-law: Winifred (Roger) Janda. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Charles and Lillian Smidel; one granddaughter: Shannon Kinjerski; a grand-son-in-law: Brad Vanness; six brothers: Thomas, Harry (Anita); Lawrence (Marie); Frank; John (Jean); Simon (Dolores); two sisers: Marion Kinjerski and Rose (Milton) Pardowsky
Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 12 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. Legion and V.F.W. services will be held at 6:30 p.m. and a parish wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. by Dcn. Robert Pribek. Visitation continues on Thursday at the funeral home until the procession to church at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. St. Hedwig Church, East Krok by Fr. Dennis Drury. Burial will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery with full military rites.
