Mary R. Thor

Mary R. Thor, age 92 of Kewaunee died in her home on Thursday, February 6, 2014. She was born on March 2, 1921 at Stangelville to the late Joseph and Katherine (Pelnar) Paider.

She married Adolph Thor who preceded her in death in1960.

She was an employee of St. Mary’s Kewaunee Area Memorial Hospital for many years until retiring. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Norman and Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee, the Rosary Society of Holy Rosary Church, a former member of St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children: Gloria (Allen) Slack, Naples, FL; Fred (Lyn) Thor, Kewaunee; Donald (Bonnie) Thor, Kewaunee; Adolph (Virginia) Thor, Milwaukee; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters: Mary and Katherine Thor; two brothers: Frank (Blanche) Paider and Victor (Helen) Paider.

Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 8 at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee until the time of services. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Fr. William Swichtenberg. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Norman.

Mary’s family (her children, grandchildren) and friends will always remember her as a kind and gentle person. Her love of reading, writing, baking and gardening brought great joy to her and those who knew her. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Zenner, the staff of Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice for the care they gave Mary and to Katie Stangel for her spiritual ministry.
