Kenneth E. Zuege age 76 of Kewaunee died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday January 11, 2014. He was born in Kewaunee on November 2, 1937 to the late Sylvester and Mabel (Kuskabar) Zuege. He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1955. Ken served in the U. S. Navy Reserves. He married Sandra Rogalske Bruechert February 24, 1962 and she preceded him in death May 23, 2002.
He owned and operated Ken’s Zephyr Station, worked for Swintosky Salvage and then worked for the Kewaunee City Street Department for many years until retiring, he was a member of the Kewaunee Fire Department for over twenty years. Ken enjoyed helping people in whatever way he could. He enjoyed hunting and visiting with family and friends and those who came to visit him in the “shop”. Ken was a very sociable, caring person with a heart of gold. He was a loving and special father, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. He always had a smile and a few words and always loved to tease people. His hobbies included stock car racing, tree cutting, snow plowing and spending time with family in Lakewood.
Survivors include his children: Linda and Steve McGuire, Luxemburg and their children: Dean and Dylan; Ron and Julie Bruechert and their children: Ryan and Sara (special friend, Adam); Brenda and Rick Vandermause and their children: Cory (Jess), Tory (Kim); Brian and Karen Bruechert and their children: Sgt. Derrick (Samantha); Amy (Dayton) Packard; Bobi (Matt) Theys all; thirteen great grandchildren: Two brothers: Roger (Linda) Zuege; Donald Zuege and a sister-in-law: Margaret Zuege; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son: Dean; an infant sister: Diane; a brother Tom Zuege; two nephews: Ricky Zuege and Scott Zuege.
Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Friday January 17 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. Visitation continues after Noon on Saturday at the Kewaunee Historic Inn, 122 Ellis St. Kewaunee until the time of services. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Howard Batt officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
