Virginia T. Haskell, 99, of Sturgeon Bay, died Saturday morning, January 4, 2014, at Golden Living Center-Dorchester where she had resided the past six years.
She was born September 19, 1914, in the town of Gardner, the daughter of the late Gustave William Kluth and Theresa (Piper) Kluth. On November 25, 1946, Virginia was united in marriage to Walter Ralph Haskell at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1998.
During her working years, Virginia was a part of the housekeeping staffs with the Dorchester Hospital and Door County Memorial Hospital until her retirement. Virginia was an active member at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay and the Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters. She loved animals, especially her cats and dogs. Virginia also enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, sewing and photography.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Marion Kluth, Eunice Graf and Pat Swagel, all of Sturgeon Bay; many nieces, and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Norma Kluth, Grace Severin; and two brothers, Norman and Gustave Kluth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Stegmann as celebrant. Virginia will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. A Christian Mothers Rosary will be prayed at 9:45 a.m., Thursday morning, at the church.
