Chloe Schopf

Chloe Diane Schopf, 56, of Sturgeon Bay, died Sunday afternoon, December 22, 2013, at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 18, 1957, in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Orville John and Ella M. (Pruest) Hendrickson. Following her graduation from Sevastopol High School in 1975, Chloe went to work for Door County, and most recently worked as administrative assistant for the Door County Sanitarian’s office.

On January 8, 1977, she was united in marriage to Steven E. Schopf at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute. Chloe was a founding member of the Stock Horse Association of Wisconsin who served as treasurer and also on the board of directors. She had been a 4-H leader who had a passion for sharing her love of animals with children in the club over the years. Horses were her first love, but Chloe also loved cats, and would always take in a stray or one in need of healing and lots of love. She was also part of the ski patrol at Potawatomi State Park Hill, opening it and making it available for skiing.

Family meant the world to Chloe, supporting her children in all their activities, and now her two new grandsons. They all gave her so much joy.

Chloe’s love will live on in the hearts of her husband, Steve of Sturgeon Bay; three sons, J.J. (Elizabeth) Schopf, Brandon (Chelsea), Adam (Dana), all of Sturgeon Bay; two precious grandsons, Kaiden and Caleb; two brothers, Bill (Chris) Hendrickson of Algoma, Steve Hendrickson of South Dakota; sister, Marcia Hendrickson of Sturgeon Bay; aunt, Mildred Leimbach of Sturgeon Bay; cousins; nieces and nephews; the Schopf family; and other dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute with Fr. Bob Stegmann and Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski O.F.M. concelebrating.

Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2013, at Huehns Funeral Home and at the church, Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. A parish wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m., Friday evening, at Huehns Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given in Chloe’s memory for Stock Horse of Wisconsin (Luminere Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 866, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235).

Online condolences and guestbook signing may be offered at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
