Bernard E. “Bernie” Paul, 90, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on November 28, 2013, at Golden Living Center – Dorchester. He was born on January 27, 1923, in Sturgeon Bay to Anton and Barbara (Lemberger) Paul. On October 9, 1948, he married Cese Trulli at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, she preceded him in death on March 1, 1994. Bernard served his country in the U. S. Marines – 1st Division during WWII and the Korean War. While in the military, he was a platoon sergeant for a demolition unit and received the Purple Heart.
Bernie was a longtime salesman for Jewel T. Stores. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3088, Knights of Columbus, the WWII Memorial Society, and a long –time and active member of Corpus Christi Church. Bernie enjoyed going to Florida in the winter to visit his son.
Survivors include six children, Bernard Jr., Sturgeon Bay; Linda Madsen, Sturgeon Bay; Steven Paul, Lindenhurst, IL; Michael (Mary Jo) Paul, De Forest, WI; David (Cheryl) Paul, Sturgeon Bay; Jamie Paul, Clearwater, FL; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2013, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Carl Schmitt officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Forbes Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Monday. A prayer service will be at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday.
