Carol Marie Shaffer

Carol Marie Shaffer, 75, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on November 24, 2013. She was born on July 1, 1938, in Sturgeon Bay to Edgar and Martha (Ellison) Schwichtenberg. In 1956, she married Vernon Konrad II, he preceded her in death on July 4, 1974. On July 9, 1983, she married Robert “Bob” Shaffer in Sturgeon Bay, he preceded her in death on June 3, 2013.

Carol enjoyed volunteering for Loaves and Fishes for many years. She loved going to garage sales and thrift stores, and watching softball. As a seamstress, Carol also enjoyed making lap blankets that were donated to residents in nursing homes.

Survivors include five children, Vernon Konrad III, Sturgeon Bay; Barbra (Howard) Bloyer, Montello; Scott (Mary) Shaffer, Angel Fire, N.M.; Steven (Donna) Konrad, Appleton; Todd (Tracey) Shaffer, Holmen; seventeen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Leon (Sharon) Schwichtenberg, Hartford, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, one daughter, Linda Konrad-Thompson; and one great-grandson, Raydon Konrad.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Matthew Knapp and Rev. Reeder Herrick officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Moravian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Wednesday. Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
