Marlene (Dietrich) Martens, formerly of Egg Harbor, died Thursday, November 21, at Whispering Pines Assisted Living in Sturgeon Bay. She was born in West Jacksonport on July 7, 1939, to Reinhold and Goldie (Luethge) Dietrich. On June 23, 1962, she married Franklin Martens in Egg Harbor. He preceded her in death in 2005.
After graduating from Sevastopol High School, Marlene worked at the Community Library in Sturgeon Bay before marrying and eventually devoting her primary occupation to being a wife and mother. Marlene also managed the family cherry and plum orchard for nearly 20 years. She was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Egg Harbor, where she was the organist for over 25 years.
She is survived by two children, Keith (Maryhelen) Martens, Whitefish Bay, and Cheryl Halladay, Salem; five grandchildren; one sister, Elaine (Timothy) Goehring, Sturgeon Bay; one brother, Dennis (Sue) Dietrich, Egg Harbor; sisters-in law, Myrtle Felhofer, Sturgeon Bay and June (Herbert) Wenger, Stevens Point; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law, Dan.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Calvary Methodist Church in Egg Harbor. Burial will be in Egg Harbor Town Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
