Mrs. Margaret (Burlo) Lake, 87, of Carlsville, died June 17, 2013, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Margaret, the daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Richard) Burlo, was born September 26, 1925. On April 28, 1945, she married Carl Sampone. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1962. On, July 16, 1966, she married Patrick W. Lake at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Before her illness Margaret loved to embroider which meant making many gifts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed going to watch harness racing and participating in American Legion activities with Pat. One of her true joys was spending time with her husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Bill (Maggie) Sampone, Carl Sampone; stepchildren, Mark (Nancy) Lake, Greg (Debbie) Lake, Shelly (Bill) Cowans, Vicky (Pat) Rankin, Dan (Michelle) Lake; grandchildren, Laurie (John) Haberli, William Jr. (Cheryl) Sampone, Julie (Wade) Jonas, Ann (John) Hamilton, Corey Sampone, Torry Lake, Rob (Kelly) Rankin, Travis (Sarah) Lake, Sara Lake, Kristina (Mike) Blackley, Becca (Jay) Gmeindl, Amanda Cowans, Brent Rankin, Zeke Gebhardt, Hali Lake and Eliam Lake; great-grandchildren, Katie (JR) Jensen, Molly Haberli, Brooke Sampone, Ashley Sampone, Hunter Jonas, Devan Hamilton, Dylan Sampone, Alexandria Lake, Bailey Schroeder, Patrick Lake, Cassie Rankin, Faith Blackley, Colton Blackley, Jaxon Rankin, Andrew Jensen, Charlotte Lake, Ruby Lake and Baby Girl Gmeindl. She is further survived by her brother, Tom (Gloria) Burlo; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Burlo, Marilyn Burlo, Ada Zunk, and Jean Tong; as well as many nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband; her parents; her brothers, Louis, Wallace, and Charles Jr.; three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at Stella Maris Parish in Egg Harbor with Fr. David Ruby as celebrant. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.
Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and again on Friday at Stella Maris Parish from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30 a.m.
