Kay F. Wehausen

Kay Frances Wehausen (nee Sorenson), age 79 of Sturgeon Bay, entered peacefully into the kingdom of God on Saturday, June 15, 2013.

She was born April 16, 1934 in Sturgeon Bay to the late Cecil and Frances (Bochek) Sorenson. Kay was a 1952 graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School. After graduation she worked at the Bank of Sturgeon Bay. On September 8, 1956 she married John Wehausen at St. Joseph Catholic Church. John and Kay raised their family in Milwaukee. Kay enjoyed volunteering and working with babies at the Northwest Health Center and doing volunteer work at St. Bernadette church. Kay is retired from Milwaukee Public School Food Service after 25 years. John and Kay had a long and loving marriage of 56 years.

Kay was adoringly involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. Her perfect day was watching them play soccer, volleyball, baseball or football or perform in musical and choir performances. She enjoyed spending time with her sister, Mary and her family ... sisters are forever friends.

Kay had a genuine compassion for other people; she enjoyed cooking for guests and would do anything to help her neighbors, friends and family.

She is survived by her loving family; her husband, John of Sturgeon Bay; sons, Craig (Peggy), Mequon and Todd (Jodi), Milwaukee; daughter Lori (David) Pesch, Racine; grandchildren, Chad, Stephanie, Samantha, Brittany, Sarah, Makayla, Hannah, and Jessica; sister, Mary (Ron) Tanck of Sturgeon Bay, nieces, nephews, many friends and family in Milwaukee and Sturgeon Bay.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Kevin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Robert Konkol OFM as celebrant and lunch will follow. Rosary will be prayed at 9:45 a.m. and visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made in Kay’s memory to Alzheimer’s Research at alz.org.

The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to the caring staff of Whispering Heights and AseraCare Hospice.

Huehns Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A Mothers Gift

After she has given birth, a mother begins to give life. By teaching her child to love, she opens the doors through which his or her full potential may be realized. And through every day of her child’s life, a mother’s gift continues to unfold.
