Joanne M. Weldon

Joanne Marie (Rass) Weldon passed away at home on Sunday May 19th, 2013. Joanne was born January 1, 1936, in Brussels to Joseph and Mina Rass. She was a strong advocate for mentally challenged people in Door County for all her life and served 27 years on the Community Programs Board. Joanne was also very active in her church and served as an officer in the DCCW and Vicariate. In her spare time she would sew wedding dresses and create quilts with her many friends.

Joanne Marie (Rass) Weldon is survived by her 4 children, Peggy Weldon, Joey (Mary) Weldon, Mark Weldon, Jyll Weldon and special friend, David Corbisier, all of Sturgeon Bay; 5 Grandchildren, Stacey Vogel, Casey Weldon, Nick Weldon, Adam Weldon and Trevor Weldon-Kay; 4 Great- Grandchildren, Brycen, Makia, Trent & Jacob; 1 Sister, Arlene (Richard) Stockwell and Nieces and Nephews.

Joanne was proceeded in death by her husband Raymond Weldon, Jr., her parents Joseph and Mina Rass, In-Laws, Raymond and Myrtal Weldon, Brother-in-law, Dale Weldon, Sister-in-law, Lucille (Joe) Goetz and Niece, Pamela Stockwell.

Friends may call on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay from 3:00-6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels. Burial to follow at Stevenson Cemetery. The family would like to thank Green Bay Oncology, Dr. Anthony Jaslowski and Dr. James Heise for the care they gave. The family would also like to thank Door County Memorial Hospital and Unity Care for their efforts in helping fulfill her wishes to be home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sunshine House or P.A.T.H.
