Paul G. Grunwald, 84, of Sturgeon Bay, died Monday morning (May 6, 2013) at Anna’s Health Care in Sturgeon Bay.
He was born February 15, 1929 in the Town of Brussels, the son of the late Herman and Augusta (Guth) Grunwald. Paul graduated from Brussels High School.
On June 3, 1950 he married Marion Lucelle Lenius at Salem Lutheran Church. They farmed with Paul’s parents on the Grunwald Dairy Farm in the Town of Brussels. Paul and Marion along with their children planted the Apple and Cherry Orchard after their home burned down in the fall of 1967. They built their new home on the farm in 1968. Paul and Marion then started farming full time on the Grunwald Dairy Farm until 1991. He also had commercial fished, was a seed salesman, and a union carpenter.
Paul enjoyed ice fishing, picking and selling his cherries and apples at the local farmers market and in Green Bay.
Survivors include his seven children, Richard (Susan), David (Deborah) both of Green Bay, James (Karen) of New Ulm, Minnesota, Gary (Kay) of Sturgeon Bay, Debra (Dean) Tesch of Stettsonville, Wisconsin, Sharon (Peter) Kinderknecht of Two Rivers, Randy of Green Bay; one daughter-in-law, Marsha Grunwald of Pulaski; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Glen of Madison; one sister, Erna Splingaire of Marinette; sister-in-law, Arlene Lenius of Sturgeon Bay.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two children, Dale (1970), William (1992); three sisters, Ella Crawford, Ruth Sandoval, Hulda Russel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday (May 10, 2013) at Salem Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. John Seelman officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Huehns Funeral Home and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m.
