He was born August 13, 1929, in Sturgeon Bay, the son of Eli and Rose (Galleon) Chaudoir. Rod graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School and attended Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). During high school, he worked for Schofield Hardware Store with his Dad who was the manager. Rod maintained residences in Sturgeon Bay, WI, Fox Point, WI and Boca Raton, FL. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. He was also a member of the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club. He loved his work with Hatco and all of the opportunities it provided for him to challenge himself and the entire Hatco "team" to always grow and improve. He enjoyed mentoring employees and was always quick with a joke to help people feel at ease. Roderick loved hardware, collecting and repairing antique clocks, and the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed boating, traveling, and playing cards with his friends.

He will be dearly missed by his two sons, Tom Chaudoir of Cedarburg, WI, Dan (Jodi) Chaudoir of Port Washington, WI; daughter, Dinah (Don) Federer of Sheboygan, WI; niece, Ann (Paul) Daniel of Pewaukee, 10 grandchildren, David, Tom, Colleen, Trina, Andrea, Butch, Jason, Nathan, Andrea Lynn, Matt; great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elaine Chaudoir; nephew, Steve (Jan) Chaudoir; great-niece, Meg Daniel; other great-nieces; great-nephews; and many good friends in Door County and Milwaukee, especially the people at Hatco Corp.
