After seven years of traveling the country and living in different areas, Sister Bay resident Cynthia Oliver decided that Door County was the place she’d like to settle down.
In 2006 she made it official and joined an art group, a writing group and a storytelling group. On Wednesday she’ll be the featured poet in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County’s Dickinson Poetry Series.
Recently the 75-year-old poet co-published a book of poetry about the Charney family of Ellison Bay, complete with paintings, photos and commentaries by Marie Skrobot. Oliver’s main objective now is to finish her memoirs for her family and friends.
The Dickinson Poetry Series features a local or regional poet, followed by an open mic, every second Wednesday of the month at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Highway 42 north of Ephraim.
