The lights are back on in Door County. The snow and wind that whipped through the Peninsula Tuesday morning caused about 1,500 customers of Wisconsin Public Service in Door County to lose power. Many of those affected were in the Forestville/Brussels/Union area. WPS says service was restored by mid- to late-morning.
The snowy, windy weather has knocked out power to more than a thousand electric customers in Door County.
Lynn Kroll of Wisconsin Public Service says there are two main outages in the county. One is affecting about 1,300 customers in the towns of Forestville, Brussels, Union, Red River and Lincoln. She says the other -- affecting about 125 customers -- is in the Liberty Grove / Northport area.
Kroll says they're hoping to have power restored to both areas by mid-morning, although as of 7:30 a.m. she said crews were still patrolling the larger outage to try to determine the exact cause.
