Door County is packed to the gills for the 4th of July holiday.
Door County Sheriff Terry Vogel says the department has beefed up staffing to deal with the increased traffic. And he says motorists can do their part by practicing patience and courtesy as they make their way to fireworks, parades, and other events.
In addition to the increased traffic, Vogel says the Sheriff's Department typically handles a higher volume of calls over the 4th.
Vogel says if people see a violation to let the Sheriff's office know.
"If you come upon a drunk driver for instance, give us a call and hopefully we can get a squad in the area to intercept that before somebody gets hurt."
The sheriff says he's glad the Bayview Bridge reopened in time for the busy holiday weekend.
"If it were to be closed that would add a great burden, especially on the Sturgeon Bay Police Department trying to get that traffic through the city to get up north," says Vogel. "We're very relieved that they were on schedule on that."
