The Sturgeon Bay City Council Tuesday could take a small step toward cleaning up Little Lake.
Aldermen will act on a recommendation from the Finance/Purchasing & Building Committee to award a contract to Foth Infrastructure & Environment to engineer a filtration system for the 20-acre lake in Sunset Park.
City officials and others have been pursuing efforts to restore Little Lake, a.k.a. Bradley Lake. One of the first steps in the process is addressing the storm water runoff that affects the lake.
The city has received a no-match grant not to exceed $23,000 for the work.
The bid from Foth came in at $22,900.
A study done in 2008-2009 recommended that a forebay be used for a water filtration system but city officials say that type of system has not nor will not be approved by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
