Sturgeon Bay's Bayview Bridge will reopen to vehicular traffic Friday at 6 a.m.
But those looking to walk, run or bike over the bridge will have to wait another month to use the bridge.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation NE region office in Green Bay says the sidewalk on the bridge will remain closed until July 28 for finishing work.
When the bridge opens, WisDOT will restore the traffic signal at Michigan Street and Hwy 42/57 from its current red-flashing mode. Crews will also turn off the temporary signal at Egg Harbor Road and Hwy 42/57 and place a bag over the lights until they can be taken down.
The bridge has been closed since March 5 as part of a $4.8 million project to upgrade the bridge. The state says the project is finishing on time and is on budget.
The project included structural steel repair, bridge painting, electrical and machinery system upgrades, and an overlay of the bridge deck and approaches.
The Bayview Bridge was opened in 1978. The last major bridge repairs were done in 2004.
