The County of Door is negotiating with two groups of public safety employees whose labor contracts expire at the end of the year. Both the Deputy Sheriff's Association and the Paramedics union have deals that run out December 31. Public safety employees were largely exempted from Acts 10 and 32 and thus can continue to collectively bargain. Door County Administrator Maureen Murphy says a county negotiating committee has presented an initial offer to the Deputy Sheriff's Association but it's early in the process and the two sides are likely months away from a solution. Murphy says the county has a total of six labor contracts that are up at the end of the year.
