Sturgeon Bay's port security camera system is close to being operational.
Door County Information Systems Director Tim Ullman says Green Bay-based Baycom has installed the majority of the cameras and in several locations also have the radio gear mounted.
Ullman says the cameras will ride on a wireless radio system. He says once they're operational, the recordings will be routed to servers at the Justice Center and Government Center, although he says officials will have the ability to send the data to other servers on the network.
The cameras are positioned in 13 key locations on the city's waterfront from Pinney Park to the Bayview Bridge.
The surveillance system was paid for through a federal port security grant.
