Brussels Youngster Reels In The Winner During Kids Fishing Derby

Lucas Wagner of Brussels reeled in the big one Sunday during the 28th Annual Kids Fishing Derby at Little Lake in Sturgeon Bay hosted by Gary and Cheryl Nault.
The six-year-old proudly pointed to the 12-inch carp he caught as it swam around in his bucket with two smaller catches.

Lucas’ dad, Todd, says the derby is a tradition he started with his Lucas’ older brother Michael years ago.
Other winners were Xadria Duffeck with the biggest bullhead (8 7/8 inches) and Sophia Cihlar with the biggest rock bass (7 1/2 inches).
Gary Nault says about 65 kids participated this year.

The derby brings kids and their families to Little Lake every Father’s Day weekend and Nault says in almost 30 years, they’ve never been rained out.
A nice cool breeze kept fishermen and women from breaking a sweat at the Kids Fishing Derby in Sturgeon Bay. The beautiful weather drew many families outside to enjoy Father's Day.
