The Illinois man facing two murder charges in Door County has withdrawn his plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
Jury selection for the trial of Brian Cooper took place in a Wood County courtroom Friday.
Online court records indicate Cooper's attorney Shane Brabazon submitted a letter to the court indicating his client would be withdrawing his NGI plea. Judge Todd Ehlers questioned Cooper and found he was "freely, knowingly, voluntarily and competently" withdrawing his NGI plea.
Jury selection was then completed and both sides indicated they had no problem with the chosen panel.
The trial is scheduled to begin Monday morning in Sturgeon Bay.
