A Sister Bay teen and his dad are bicycling across the state to raise awareness of leukemia and residents will have a chance to welcome them when they return to Door County.
Alex Lensert and his dad Duke Lensert left Fish Creek June 5. They're pedaling to St. Croix Falls and back -- about a 700 mile journey -- in memory of Alex's friend Bo Johnson, who died of leukemia last September.
The Door County Silent Sports Alliance and the Lodge at Leathem Smith are planning an event to welcome the riders back to Door County.
DCSSA Board President Randy Sahs says the public is welcome to attend a dinner at the Lodge Friday evening. Sahs says there will also be a "welcome ride" so those interested can meet up with Alex and Duke south of Sturgeon Bay and ride with the two into Sturgeon Bay. Sahs says more details about the events will be announced in the coming days.
More information about the ride can be found here.
