A solution to the turning lane confusion at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Maple Street in Sturgeon Bay is in the near future.
On Monday the city’s parking and traffic committee discussed re-painting a few parking stalls next to The Greystone Castle on Maple Street that were previously removed. Committee member Ron Vandertie says that would make the center lane for vehicles turning left onto Madison and continuing west on Maple.
Vandertie says there will be a small area past the Greystone parking stalls from which vehicles can turn right.
Currently there are two lanes but no street markings on Maple at the intersection. Vehicles are continuing straight from both lanes causing some near misses and even accidents as cars jockey into one lane.
