The Kewaunee School District has a new safety plan in place.
The Board of Education Monday approved of the district-wide plan which Board President Brian Vogeltanz says covers all aspects of school safety. Vogeltanz says it was created by the buildings & grounds director and the administrative team -- independent of the school board due to privacy and security concerns.
Board members also approved security-related items for the high school, grade school and Hillcrest buildings, including adding more security cameras and creating additional secure entrances with either a key card or intercom system.
In other action, the board approved the advertisement which seeks applicants for the school board seat vacated by Sarah Schiller. Vogeltanz says the board is hoping to be able to appoint someone by June or July.
