Governor Scott Walker, in his weekly radio address, commemorates Armed Forces Week, thanking military members and families "for their commitment to our state and to our country."
He adds that it's "also a great time to encourage employers in our state to hire a returning veteran."
"Not only is it patriotic to hire a vet, it makes good business sense as they are well trained, disciplined, and devoted," Walker says. "And with the Wisconsin GI Bill, they now have free access to higher education in the state."

Senator Julie Lassa touts Dem efforts to reform the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation in the party's weekly radio address. Lassa, D-Stevens Point and a member of the WEDC board, says only the embattled agency's board of directors is "in a position to provide real oversight to WEDC’s ongoing operations."
"Simply put, WEDC can no longer be completely dominated by the governor while information is withheld from a board of directors," Lassa says. "Therefore, we are calling for a major reconstruction of the board of directors to finally give it the power and independence it needs both to ensure the effective management of the organization as well as protect the interests of Wisconsin taxpayers."
