Two brand new ambulances should be arriving in Door County next week. Door County Emergency Services planned to have them a few weeks ago but department head Eric Christensen says there was a slight snafu.
One of the new vehicles will be stationed in Sturgeon Bay while the other will be stationed in Sister Bay. Currently the department maintains six ambulances throughout the county. When the new vehicles -- with a new look -- arrive, Christensen says they will get rid of one and keep the other as a backup. This marks the beginning of a plan to replace the fleet.
Christensen says it’s been at least five years since Emergency Services replaced any vehicles.
