Authorities in Kewaunee County are investigating a number of burglaries and thefts that have occurred over the past three weeks.
Kewaunee County Sheriff Matt Joski says items like tools, chainsaws, generators, and air compressors have been taken out of detached garages or storage sheds in the towns of Luxemburg, Red River, Montpelier, Carlton and Franklin. Some garages had been left unlocked, while others were locked and forced entry was committed.
Sheriff Joski is reminding residents to secure their outbuildings with working locks and that a good property inventory is valuable if you are a victim of a theft or burglary. Documentation of serial numbers helps positively identify your property and allows the property to be entered into a nationwide stolen property database. Joski says if your property does not have serial numbers you may wish to etch or otherwise identify it with some personal markings.
Any person with suspicious vehicle sightings between April 20 and April 28 or who has information on possible suspects is urged to call the Sheriff’s Department at 920-388-7108 or Kewaunee County Crime Stoppers at 920-388-0440.
