With summer-like weather closing in quickly the beauty of nature will be seen across the entire peninsula. To experience nature's transformation first-hand there are several places the public can do so.
Many of the state parks in the county have volunteer organizations that assist in the natural preservation of landscape. For example, The Friends of Potawatomi State Park just south of Sturgeon Bay organize a Run/Walk in fall to raise funds for needed equipment in the park. These groups also work to maintain facilities and trails within the parks. The Friends of Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek organize spring clean up events to remove debris from hiking and biking trails. These organizations are always looking for volunteers who enjoy the outdoors.
To learn more about either of these groups check out their websites at either http://www.runwild.org/ or http://www.peninsulafriends.org/. Organizations like these stand to protect and promote the rich beauty of the peninsula for generations to come.
