Four men are being treated for exposure after their boat capsized in Lake Michigan near Algoma Friday morning.
Kewaunee County Sheriff Matt Joski says his department received a call at 6:28 a.m. about a capsized boat in the waters of Lake Michigan about 100 feet off shore near the Algoma City Harbor. Joski says a nearby charter vessel rescued one of the men and the other three were able to swim to shore.
Joski says the 19-foot Lund watercraft is owned by 25-year-old Kyle Lemens of Luxemburg. Also in the boat were 40-year-old Billy Charles of Forestville, 24-year-old Michael Bouche of Casco, and 37-year-old Jesse Jonet of Luxemburg.
All four were taken to medical facilities in Green Bay for treatment after spending time in the 40-degree water.
The Kewaunee County Sheriff's Department, Algoma Police Department, Algoma Fire & Rescue, Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Coast Guard responded.
Joski says the Coast Guard continues to investigate the incident.
