Parents and community members will get a taste of expeditionary learning (EL) today on Washington Island. Superintendent Tim Raymond says the preview is just a glimpse into the project-based learning approach in which citizenship is a strong component. "Crews" of students complete "expeditions" over the course of a few weeks in the EL approach.
Raymond is impressed with the amount of support the district has received from the community throughout the transition and is proud to be able to provide a more progressive learning experience for Washington Island students.
The district is closing out its exploratory year of expeditionary learning and is excited to implement it fully come fall.
Two EL Lead School Designers Dr. Jenny Seydel and Carrie Fischer will be in classrooms April 2 and 3 to observe teachers in their classrooms and present EL to the district community.
