The Door County Sheriff's Department and Sturgeon Bay Police Department were among the agencies involved in a large-scale operation targeting online child predators that resulted in the arrest of 17 suspects.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice says the three-day Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) sting -- called 'Operation Black Veil' -- was conducted from Tuesday, March 12 through Thursday, March 14 and was the result of a proactive, online investigation relating to the exploitation of children through the use of online personal advertisements, specifically targeting online predators who solicit children for the purpose of engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
The 17 arrested -- all men -- range in age from 18 to 65. Six were arrested in Green Bay, six in Madison, and one each in Appleton, Shawano, Wausau, Minocqua and Shawano.
Charges include child trafficking, child enticement, and use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.
