Sturgeon Bay Vaults Into Action To Host State Gymnastics Meet

The Sturgeon Bay High School campus was a hopping place this past weekend.

Sturgeon Bay High School and TJ Walker Middle School served as host for the YMCA State Gymnastics Meet.

Seventeen teams and more than 800 gymnasts competed in the three-day meet.

Nikki Pollman, director of gymnastics for the Door County YMCA, says many volunteers played a part in hosting the event.

Pollman says this is the first time Sturgeon Bay has hosted the meet with all of the levels competing.

"We used to break the state meet down in levels and this is the first time we've done all of the levels with this magnitude of gymnasts coming in," says Pollman.
