Good Planning Keeps Emergency Response Times Normal During Bridge Closure

The Bayview Bridge closure has had little to no impact on response times for fire and ambulance calls so far.  

Sturgeon Bay Fire Chief Tim Herlache says with fire stations on both sides of the city, the adjustment has been simple.

Communicating with Bay Ship isn’t new to the fire department, but Herlache says the big question is what’s going to happen when summer hits and the city gets more crowded. Door County Emergency Services Director Eric Christensen plans to make adjustments for that.

Christensen says the response time for ambulance calls has maybe increased by a minute for calls south of the bridge while Herlache reports no change in fire response times.
