Did you know that through the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Medical Equipment Loan Program you are able to borrow medical equipment and supplies on a short-term basis at no cost to you? 1,021 people utilized this program in 2012, saving more than $400,000 in medical expenses because they chose to borrow the equipment they needed from Neighbor-to-Neighbor as opposed to purchasing their own. For your convenience, equipment loans are processed through facilities located in Sturgeon Bay, Northern Door, and on Washington Island.
While some of the medical equipment is purchased with grant funds, much of the equipment utilized in the program is donated from individuals in the community. Donations of new or gently used equipment are needed at this time. The items currently needed include knee walkers, four-wheeled walkers with seats, wheelchairs, and transport chairs. If you have any of these items and are no longer using them, please consider donating them to Neighbor-to-Neighbor.
Neighbor-to-Neighbor also has an urgent need for volunteers to assist with the Sturgeon Bay medical equipment loan program. For further information, to make equipment donations, or to inquire about our volunteer needs, please contact me, Ann Bennett, at (920) 743-7800.
