Dates have been announced for this year's Door County Fair. The fair will take place Wednesday, July 31 through Sunday, August 4 at John Miles County Park in Sturgeon Bay.
The ticket price for Thursday through Sunday will be $10 per person before 5 p.m. and $12 after 5 p.m. The price includes all rides, musical and grandstand events.
Discounted ticket prices include: Senior citizens $5 per ticket; Children 5 and under who aren't riding rides are admitted free; Wednesday (opening day) fair entry is $10 for those riding rides and $5 for everyone else.
Musical acts for this year's fair include Vic Ferrari on Wednesday evening, Glass Hammer on Thursday and Boogie & the Yo-yo'z on Friday. Back Home Boys will perform on the Midway Stage on Saturday night and local favorite Michael Raye and his band The Works will close out the Fair on Sunday.
Grandstand Events are Enduro Races on Thursday, Modified Truck and Tractor Pull on Friday, Motorcycle Races for Saturday (Rain Date is Sunday) and a Demolition Derby on Sunday.
Rides for all ages will be provided by Mr. Ed's Magical Midways with a wide variety of agricultural exhibits and 4H events rounding out this year's fair.
New to the fair this year is a radio jingle contest. Door County area students are encouraged to write and compose their own jingle for the Door County Fair. Jingle judging will be held on Monday, April 22 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Third Avenue Playhouse in downtown Sturgeon Bay. The winning jingle individual or group will receive $100 and free fair passes for each member within the group. Call 920-818-0377 for more information.
