Inside of the proposed state budget lies a provision that would repeal a law that 30th District Senator Dave Hansen says has been in place since 1887. The law protects Wisconsin land from being controlled by large, foreign corporations.
Hansen says currently foreign countries can own no more than 640 acres of land in Wisconsin.
Hansen believes policy should not be included in the budget and that it should get its own discussion. The budget should be a financial document and he says both parties have been guilty of including too much policy in the budgets.
