Police in Sturgeon Bay are cautioning residents about a new phone scam.
According to a department blog, a resident on 7th Avenue told officers she received a phone call Monday from a female who told the resident there was "a problem with her Windows Operating System" and the caller needed to log in to look into it.
Police say the woman did not allow the caller to log in to her computer and did not provide any sensitive information.
They say Microsoft or any reputable software company will never contact you and tell you about your computer problems. They say if you're having legitimate computer issues to contact a computer repair company yourself.
Anyone with any questions about suspicious calls is asked to contact the Sturgeon Bay Police Department at 920-746-2450.
