The 2013 Washington Island Music Festival may be five months away, but Festival Manager Joanne Jack says she does most of the organizational work over the winter months. She’s been very busy lately, sending out letters, updating the website and arranging housing for the musicians for the two-week annual music festival.
More than 20 years ago musicians on the island teamed up with Stephen Colburn, principal oboist of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, to bring world-class musicians to Washington Island to perform and teach classical music programs. Jack describes how the festival has grown since then…
This year the Festival is partnering with the Washington Island Players for the first time ever.
The Washington Island Music Festival is set for August 5-16 at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center. For more information, visit http://www.washingtonislandmusicfestival.com/.
