Nearly 100 ice fishermen and women took to the ice for the 36th Annual Washington Island Lions Club Ice Fishing Derby the past two weekends.
The nine day event ended at noon last Sunday at Nelsen's Hall with a luncheon, bingo and prizes for the derby winners. Lions Club Secretary Jeff Heal says some participants came from as far as Minnesota.
Heal says he's a newbie, this was the second year he's gone ice fishing.
