Whether it's music, writing, theater or art, creativity runs deep throughout the peninsula. And it appears that the desire to create doesn't discriminate based on age.
Nowhere is this more apparent than with Pine Crest Village resident Arlene Stevens. A Sturgeon Bay native, Stevens discovered her love of painting in 1983. Stevens modestly reflects on her humble beginnings…
Arlene joined the group and began painting with them weekly. Over time she developed her own style and found that her best work came in the form of landscape paintings. She uses brushes primarily but has quite the talent using knives. She feels the use of painting knives often lends more depth to the painting when used appropriately.

Her paintings aren't the only thing keeping Arlene busy these days…

She hopes that her love of the arts can inspire other seniors in the area to find their own hidden talents…
She continues her weekly painting sessions with her daughter-in-law, every Tuesday, at Pine Crest Village.
