Guest Report - Golden Heart Volunteer Celebration Set For April 25

I'm Pam Seiler, executive director of the Volunteer Center of Door County. The Volunteer Center of Door County is pleased to announce the 11th annual Golden Heart Volunteer Celebration presented by Ministry Door County Medical Center and the Volunteer Center.

This event will be held at Stone Harbor Resort on Thursday, April 25. This year's theme --  "Inspired ... By Those That Do" -- celebrates those who lead by example, making changes, not excuses.  We are thrilled to announce our keynote speakers, Casey and Nicole Rabach, who will address their charity work during Casey's ten year career in the NFL and why they chose to come back to Door County to begin the "5th Quarter" of their lives.

Billed as the "feel good" event of the year, the Golden Heart Volunteer Celebration gives us a chance to say "Thank You!" to local volunteers and highlights the agencies through which they serve.

Each nominated volunteer attends the event as our dinner guest and is individually recognized.  The Adult, Lifetime of Service, Group and Arts & Culturecategory recipients will receive $500 to donate to a Door County charity of their choice. In addition, three $500 academic scholarshipswill be awarded to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to volunteerism.

If you'd like to nominate a volunteer you know for a "Golden Heart," pick up a form at Door County Daily or at the Volunteer Center.  Forms are also available to download at

Dr. Martin Luther King once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is 'What are you doing for others?'" Take a minute to thank a volunteer for all that they do to help those that need it most.
