Come spring, fishermen at Shea's Lake will have a brand new pier to cast from. Kewaunee County Parks Director Matt Payette says the new dock will be a little longer and fancier.
Payette says the 2-acre park, located just east of Denmark, is used extensively by fishermen from Kewaunee, Brown and Manitowoc counties.
The asphalt surrounding the boat landing area also needs some attention. The county Promotions and Recreation Committee discussed a resolution this month to write a grant to the DNR to replace the asphalt. Payette estimates the project would cost about $8,000.
The new dock, set to be installed in April, will cost about $16,000. The asphalt project, however, is completely grant-dependent. Payette says if they receive the DNR grant, they hope to patch up the pavement in early summer.
