Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a home in northern Kewaunee County.
Luxemburg Fire Chief Lew Du Chateau says his department received a page Sunday at 6:54 p.m. about a home completely engulfed in fire at N9272 County Road AB in the Town of Red River.
Du Chateau says when firefighters arrived the attached garage was completely engulfed in fire with fire already spreading into the home and its attic. He says firefighters were met with numerous propane tank explosions in the garage.
Du Chateau says fire crews were able to save a storage structure adjacent to the home.
No one was home when the fire broke out. Online property records indicate the homeowner is Kevin Bouche.
The chief says Luxemburg received mutual aid from fire departments in Casco, Algoma, New Franken and Brussels-Union Gardner. He says Kewaunee Fire initially provided stand-by assistance at the Luxemburg Station, but when Kewaunee crews were called to a house fire in the Town of Pierce, Denmark was called in to stand by.
