The gun debate has taken over the national conversation in recent weeks and it's also on the minds of those in the Door County area. Scott Virlee, owner of Virlee Gun Works in New Franken, says all of this talk has people buying more guns.
On Wednesday President Obama issued a series of 23 executive actions intending to reduce gun violence. One calls on Congress to reinstate and update a ban on high-capacity magazines that was in place from 1994 to 2004. Allin Walker of Sturgeon Bay applauds that action.
On the other hand, Rich Woldt, CEO of the Risk Management Learning Center, says legislation that bans assault weapons and the rounds has had little or no impact in the past.
With such a complex issue on the table it can be difficult to find compromise but both Walker and Woldt agree on one thing.
