82 musicians from 8 area high schools came together Saturday for the Bay Area Music Association (BAMA) Honors Band Concert, conducted by Professor Phillip A. Ostrander from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Morgan Smeester, Amanda Kane and Maddie Sigl (pictured left to right, above), all seniors at Denmark High School agree that the annual concert is a worthwhile experience. Sigl, who plays the clarinet, says it's an easy place to make friends.
Ann LeBotte's daughter Renee, a senior trombonist from Algoma, had even more to look forward to.
The students and their band directors spent Saturday morning and afternoon practicing selections from Mozart and Sturgeon Bay native Pierre LaPlante among a few others at Gibraltar High School, then invited their families, friends and the community to enjoy the show at the Door Community Auditorium.
