Southern Door
The Southern Door School Board will have a slightly different look come April. School Board President Dustin Miller is not seeking re-election and there will be three candidates vying for two available seats. Incumbent Steve Bretl has filed to run again. He'll be joined on the April 2 ballot by Del Schmelzer and Heidi Gutschow. The top two vote-getters will capture the at-large seats. Verification of the candidates and drawing of lots for ballot order is scheduled to take place Tuesday morning at the District Office.
Here's a look at the other school board races in Door County:
Sturgeon Bay
Three 3-year seats are up for election on the nine-member board and all three incumbents are running again: Pam Seiler, Roger Wood and Jake Schulz.
Washington Island
Three candidates are running for three available seats but there will be one new face on the board. Tom Jordan has filed to run, as have incumbents Amy Jorgenson and Kirsten Purinton. Betsy Boshka is not seeking re-election.
Sevastopol
Status quo will be the case on the Sevastopol School Board. Sevastopol School District Administrative Secretary Jean Cookle says incumbents Richard Weidman and Mark Herrell will be running again for three-year terms. No one else filed papers.
Gibraltar
In the Gibraltar School District, two seats are up for election and incumbents Mike Peot and Suzanne Brennan both have filed to run in the April 2 election.
