The Door County Jail begins a contract with a new food service provider on Tuesday. The jail’s contract with CBM Managed Services ends December 31 and Jail Lieutenant Tammy Sternard says they’ve done business with them since the jail opened in 2005.
Sternard says the jail began looking for competitive food service bids this fall and chose A’viands Food and Services Management from a pool of three bids. They looked at price, menus, dietary requirements, staffing and training before choosing A’viands.
The kitchen will see a new food service director, one new cook and one current cook will be staying on. Sternard says both companies have been in the food service business for many years and expects the transition to be seamless.
“I’m very impressed with both companies working together to accomplish a transition in a smooth manner,” she says.
