The number of "swimmers" may not be as great as Jacksonport, but for the hardy souls who take part in Kewaunee's New Year's Day plunge into Lake Michigan, the water is just as cold.
The 12th annual Kewaunee Polar Bear Plunge, sponsored by Kewaunee Just Cares, will take place Tuesday, January 1 at 1:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Vista Park in Kewaunee.
Kewaunee Rescue will provide coffee and hot chocolate starting at 12:30. There's no charge for the beverages but a free will donation to the Kewaunee Area Ambulance Service is appreciated.
Commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase.
To get to the park, follow Highway 42 to Kewaunee and just north of the downtown bridge take Hathaway Landing east to Lighthouse Vista Park.
