Door County's newest department now has a new director.
But the face is familiar.
The Door County Board Tuesday unanimously approved the appointment of Joe Krebsbach to the position of Human Services Director.
Krebsbach has been director of the county's Department of Community Programs, which was merged with the Social Services Department to create the Department of Human Services.
Door County Administrator Maureen Murphy calls Krebsbach a "home grown talent" and an "outstanding appointment." Murphy says Krebsbach started with the county in the mid-1990s as a case manager and moved his way up the ranks. She says Krebsbach recently obtained his master's degree in public administration.
Murphy says state law prohibits counties from eliminating any positions when undergoing such a merger, but she says the move should result in a more effective delivery of services.
Krebsbach's appointment was recommended by the Administrative Committee, which recently set the salary for the position at $97,656.
